The Museum of Miniature Books is one of the attractions of Baku. Since its creation, it has been visited by more than 400 thousand people, including 150 thousand foreigners. There are many famous people among the visitors of the museum.
An elegant building near the Shirvanshahs’ Palace in the Old City of Baku houses a Miniature Book Museum, which stores about 8 thousand tiny printed publications from 76 countries of the world. Here you will see artistically decorated books of various genres and themes with matchboxes or postage stamps. And the text and illustrations of the world’s smallest book measuring 2×2 mm can only be seen through a magnifying glass!
On October 1, 2014, the museum was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest collection of miniature books in the world. At that time, the collection contained 2,913 unique books that fit the criteria of the Book of Records (less than 3×3 inches). The oldest book is the Quran of Saudi Arabia, XVII century. The book is 3 by 2 centimetres in size and contains all the surahs and verses. In 2016, this record was broken by Sathar Adhoor from India, whose collection contained 3,137 unique books.
The museum covers an area of 145 square meters and consists of one hall with 39 glass showcases.
