Arabel Plateau is a high—altitude valley located at an altitude of 3800 meters above sea level. This amazing place is located in the southern part of the Issyk-Kul region, near the Barskoon gorge and the Kumtor gold mine.

High—altitude valleys (which are also called syrts) are a rare and very surprising phenomenon, especially at this altitude. The average annual temperature in these places is only 5-7 degrees, and the earth is almost completely devoid of vegetation. In such places, only grass, mosses and lichens survive. Due to heavy precipitation and melting glaciers, there is a lot of water in the valley: rivers, lakes and marshy marshes. A kind of high-mountain tundra. There are more than 50 lakes, and quite large ones, here.

The valley owes such an interesting relief and a large number of lakes to the glacier, which was located here in ancient times. It was he who leveled the valley and left such a large number of lake depressions.

Many tourist routes for all types of tourism pass through Arabel Syrts. You can get to the valley through the gorges of Barskaun and Juuku, as well as through the Arabel Pass, which leads to the valley of the Bolgarth River.

The Arabel Valley is located in the southern part of the Issyk-Kul region, on the southern side of the Terskey-Ala-Too ridge. You can get there by car through the Barskaun Gorge. You can also get to the valley through the Juuku Gorge, by bike, on foot or on horseback.
