One of the most interesting sights of Moscow is located at VDNH, in the immediate vicinity of the Cosmos pavilion: the Moskvarium – an aquarium in Moscow, which opened in August 2015, has become the largest not only in our country, but also in Europe.
Since the opening, the aquarium’s ticket offices have been crowded. There are always a lot of people who want to see aquariums and their inhabitants located in a modern four-storey building. According to experts, the exposition of “Moskvarium” can be compared with the world-famous Bangkok sea center Siam Ocean World. An additional advantage is the numerous marine shows that are held in the aquarium.
The total area of the “Moskvarium” is 53 thousand “squares”, which house an Aquarium (about eight dozen aquariums of different sizes and shapes with twelve thousand individuals of marine and river fish and animals: stingrays, crocodile fish and other representatives of marine fauna), a Water show (on the last two floors of the complex there is an auditorium with a stage-pool, the depth of which is fourteen meters; there are performances with the participation of trained sea animals, which can be viewed simultaneously by 2300 people) and a swimming Center with dolphins, which includes seven full-fledged pools (located on the fourth floor of the complex). On the second floor there are exhibition areas, there are also viewing Windows of pools with Beluga whales, dolphins and orcas.
In addition to viewing aquariums, Moskvarium offers visitors to become spectators of one of the many shows held here. If you come here on any Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday, by half past six in the evening, you can watch the feeding of piranhas, and on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at two o’clock in the afternoon in the aquarium number 73, the most famous predators of the planet — sharks are fed.
For the convenience of visitors in the “Moskvarium” there are recreation areas, a children’s area, a cafe and toilet rooms. The building is designed in such a way that it is fully adapted for visiting people with disabilities.
